Farewell Baldwin…

Ciao a tutti,

This blog post is a difficult one to write and rather than relating an anecdote about Baldwin or my wonderful students, I’m just going to come out and say it.

I have resigned my position as world languages teacher at Baldwin High School as of July 2, 2019. I have accepted the position of World Languages Chairperson K-12 of the Plainview Old Bethpage Central School District starting on July 3rd.

My job as Italian and Spanish teacher has been challenging, rewarding, positive, and transformative. I was lucky to work with some of the best teachers in the business, and be guided and supported by some top administrators and staff. And how could I not mention the wonderful parents?

But the best part of being a teacher at Baldwin – my students. Each student was my favorite student. Every one of you is unique, special, and important. I loved every minute being the classroom; even the tough times were opportunities for us to strengthen our bonds, and learn how we could respect and understand each other.

Some of you are married now, some are graduating college, others have started their careers, and some of you even have children of your own! I always love hearing from you and sharing your stories with me.

Saying goodbye is never easy. But say goodbye to you I must. And I must thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for being my teachers. You students have been my inspiration, my source of strength, and my greatest teachers.
